Four Spots that Homeowners Commonly Forget to Paint
Painting your home can be a big undertaking. Not only does painting take plenty of time and effort, but it also takes a certain amount of skill. Painting isn’t for everyone, but if you do want to paint your home yourself, there are some areas that can be easy to forget about. There is nothing worse than finishing your painting job after hours or days of work, cleaning everything up, storing it away, and then realizing you forgot a few key areas. Below are four common spots that homeowners often overlook when painting their home.
One of the easiest places to forget to paint is behind certain appliances or furniture. For a complete look, you’ll want to paint behind your refrigerator, even if you can’t see back there. But because you can’t see back there you may be tempted to skip it, or may even forget it entirely. But why do you need to paint back there if you can’t see it? Well, you may not have that particular fridge for long, and when you replace, it you’ll regret that you didn’t paint behind it, especially if your new fridge isn’t an exact fit for the space. The same can be said of the area behind a wall-mounted TV, which can be a pain to take down off the wall in order to paint, but the effort is well worth it.
You may or may not plan to paint inside your closets, but if you are painting the rest of your bedroom or home, it is probably worth the added effort to ensure a more cohesive look. Closets can be easy to overlook and forget to paint because you may not see them every day, but especially in larger closet spaces like master bedroom closets and pantries, a fresh coat of paint can go a long way.
Behind Large Mirrors
If your bathrooms have large mirrors over the sink you may forget that painting behind them is a good idea. When you inevitably decide to replace that large mirror with two mirrors, or a mirror of a different size or shape, you’ll be thankful you took the time to paint behind it.
One of the easiest places to forget about when painting is above the kitchen cabinets. This small space above cabinets can easily be overlooked because it is above your line of sight. If you are repainting your walls in a color that is similar to the existing paint, you may be able to get away with skipping this space. But if you are changing the color significantly, you will definitely want to go back and paint this space if it is forgotten.
